The character i feel sympathy for in the book is George.I feel sympathy for George because George has no othe choice but to kill Lennie his best friend and hes the one who actually understands the situation and knows the real extent of what hes doing.Lennie doesnt really get it and he doesnt know that hes in so much trouble that he could get killed all he cares about is losing the rabbits but George is trying to save him and the only way to do that is to kill the person he cares about the most and basically the only person he has in the world.I think George fully understands that they can never really get "THE DREAM" because Lennies always getting in trouble and the problem gets bigger every time they run away and George didnt want to go throught that again and again so George had to kill Lennie to end the continous cycle of Lennie hurting things,people,and most importantly maybe even Lennie himself.
