I think that if i was still george, i would still protect lennie. Even though lennie does get george into some trouble along with their freindship, george has been his freind (caretaker) for a long time. From reading the book, i see lennie as being really dependent on george, and george is kind of like the teacher lennie needs to keep him going in the right path. I dont belive that lennie is in the right place to be alone and take care of himself because he does have some issuse, and he sees things diffrently than other people do (kind of like a child). If lennie were to do things on his own, people would probaby take advantage of him, or maybe even hurt him.
By now lennie should be very comfortable, and use to georges company. George is the family that lennie has, and he needs someone to keep him company. By not having george there it will probably mess with his head and make him feel alone, he wont be able to function. In conclusion, leaving lennie would be a big mistake and if i were geroge. I would still stay with lennie even though he might get me into some trouble along the way.
